From new state of the art meeting room spaces to a rooftop pavilion overlooking the hudson river we re redefining the way people share ideas unveil innovations and celebrate their work. From april to october the javits center offers free tours of its 6 75 acre green roof one of the largest of its kind in the united states. This design is inspired by multi use rather than just another event center building. There will also be vegetables cucumbers tomatoes peppers herbs carrots arugula and mesclun greens. The javits center farm will have the city s only rooftop orchard with apples pears peaches and maybe cherries some grown in a 3 200 square foot greenhouse. Home to 29 bird species five bat species and thousands of honey bees the green roof has become a sanctuary for area wildlife while helping to reduce energy consumption throughout the convention center on manhattan s west side.

The planting provided in the garden gives a screening for anyone that wants to sit and hangout on the lawn space of the garden. As a result of all of our sustainable initiatives the facility s annual energy consumption has been reduced by 26.
