Typically the unit would be found in a basement an attic or sometimes in the back of a closet.
The air filter is usually located in the return air duct or blower compartment before the return air reaches the air handler.
It s generally located in your attic basement closet or crawlspace.
So there may be an air filter behind each of those return grills.
Once it is located look for a slot where an air filter should fit.
Currently there is no filter at the blower unit.

Don t forget some hvac systems have a return in each room.
